バッハ・マタイ受難曲／メンゲルベルク／コンセルトヘボウ管(PHILIPS 468 636-2）
昨日のロ短調の影響か，マタイを聴きたくなる。たまには変わったのを聴こうと思ってこれを選択。さすがに途中までしか聴けず。
もうすでに遠い昔の演奏である。随所に最近では絶対にやらないようなルバートが入りなんとなく耳慣れないが，聴いていると波に揺られているような自然な緩急にも感じられる。「聴衆のすすり泣きが聞こえる」として有名なアルトのアリア"Erbarme dich, mein Gott"では，ソロヴァイオリンのポルタメントがすごい。これはブラームスの交響曲と同じだ。ということは同一人物が弾いているのか？可能性は高いと思うが。
コラールはフェルマータを延ばす演奏。現在の標準的解釈では，フェルマータを終止の意味でとらえて延ばさない演奏が多いだろうからこれも耳慣れないが，先のルバートなどと併せて全体の雰囲気と実にぴったりはまっているように感じる。
そんな風に聴いているとけっこう感情が入ってきてグッと引き込まれてくるので，これはこれで一つの解釈として高度に完成されているのだろうと思う。私が思い描くマタイ受難曲の姿ではないが，ある理想的な絶対的解釈によって評価するという立場ではないし，そもそもそんなすごいことをできるような人間でもないのだから，「こういうのもいいねぇ」と思って身を委ねるのもなかなか心地よいものだ。

おっ！たまたま僕も昨日から今朝にかけてこれ聞いてました。シンクロニシティだ(笑)
おっしゃるとおり「主よ憐れみたまえ」のヴァイオリンのポルタメント、すごいですよね、「うっうっうっ」という客席のすすり泣きもすごい。第二次大戦前夜ナチスの足音を聞きながらの極限状況下でのライブ。こういうストーリーで聴く聴き方はちょっと邪道のような気がしますし、演奏自体近年のオーセンティックな演奏を聞きなれるともはやゲテモノの域ですが、やはり何度聴いても胸を打たれてしまいます。

シンクロですねぇ（笑）。
リヒターといいメンゲルベルクといい，その時代の最高峰の演奏は時代とともに解釈が変わっても特別な魅力がありますね。
自分で演奏してからあらためてその思いが強くなりました。
ところで，このセットはカットされているのでNAXOS盤で買い直そうかとも思っているのですが，そこまでするべきかちょっと迷っています。演奏された分は全部聴いてみたいと思うのですが・・・。
